Convert Legacy Cases to Streaming Discovery

Legacy cases (which contain non-Streaming Discovery jobs) employ a hashing mechanism that differs from the one deployed for Streaming jobs. The Case Hash Conversion option generates new hashes (while maintaining the original hash values) to enable de-duplication compatibility with Streaming Discovery. This enables cases to start utilizing the increased speed and efficiency of Streaming Discovery. For more information, see Convert Legacy Cases to Streaming Discovery Cases.

Report the Number of Items Held Back

The Unpublished Errors field was added to the Status and Summary Panel for Streaming Discovery jobs. This field indicates the number of items held back due to errors for the completed job. See Handle Publish Errors for a Streaming Discovery Job to learn more about this field.

Publish Errors Across a Case

You now have the option to publish errors across a case, which prevents you from having to search through individual jobs and publish their errors one by one. See Publish Errors Across a Case for more details.

Auto-Publish Errors

You can configure the settings of a Streaming Discovery job to auto-publish all documents to Review, including those being held back due to errors. The job re-queues those errors one time, and once the re-queue is completed, all remaining failures are published. For more information, see Create a Streaming Discovery Job.

Improved Password Handling

Password handling has been expanded to support all job types (Discovery, Streaming Discovery, Data Extract, Process, and Enterprise Imaging) when processing Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and PDF files. Password handling support also includes extraction from protected PST files during Discovery and Streaming Discovery. In addition, support has been introduced within the QC application. For instructions about how to create a password list for the case, see Case (Project) Options.

Rollback Numbering

When deleting the most recent export in a series, an option to rollback numbering has been provided. This option clears out the numbering used in the deleted job to allow the numbering in a new export to pick up where the previous export left off. See Delete a Job in the Export Series for further information.

Extraction of PDF Comments

Comments stored within PDF files are now included in the extracted text. The QC flag "PDF Comments" is available for identifying files with this characteristic. See Case (Project) Options for information on the OCR options available.

Create a Carbon-Copy Export

You can now create a carbon copy of an existing export, which allows you to replicate the settings, documents, and numbering used in the initial export. To learn more about this feature, see Create a Carbon-Copy Export.

Re-Export a Streaming Discovery Job

The user has the ability to re-export a Streaming Discovery job and apply new numbering, fields, and settings to that export. For more information about this procedure, see Re-Export a Streaming Discovery Job.

Re-Export Errors

If errors on an export are encountered, the ability to re-export errors and their families has been added to avoid long wait times in large exports. For more information, see Overview: Exporting.

Enhanced QC Search Functionality

QC has been enhanced to aid in generating Export Sets by allowing search parameters such as ‘in’ and ‘not in’ using a comma-separated list of Item IDs. See Conduct a Session Search for more details on these search parameters.

Further Metadata Extraction

Information stored within a photograph such as the camera, associated settings, and GPS information are all extracted and available as fielded data on export.

Storage of directory, file count, and size information on ingestion to SQL

The source compressed size along with file and directory counts are now stored in the Client database for reporting purposes. For more information, see View Source Data Size for Standard and Streaming Discovery Jobs.
